The legendary Salt Flat Cafe in Salt Flat, Texas. This is absolutely the only place to eat on the way from El Paso to Carlsbad, New Mexico, which is OK, because the food is excellent and the service personal and friendly! Proprietor Shirley Richardson’s family has been located on this property for something like 100 years, so if you stop in, you can learn a lot about the history of this unbelievably desolate stretch of west Texas highway.
