Flickr Favorite: Eddy County Courthouse (Carlsbad, New Mexico) by courthouselover
From courthouselover:
This Mission-style courthouse was built in 1939 and has one of New Mexico’s best town squares.
Actually this courthouse was erected in 1891 two years after Eddy County was created by the state. However, in 1939 the appearance of the structure was altered to the point that the later date is what is commonly used. This adobe look is very common to New Mexico government building, and this courthouse is one of my favorites in New Mexico.
Carlsbad is well known for its Carlsbad Caverns National Park, located about twenty miles to the southwest. If you ever have a chance, you should definitely take the time to see the caverns.
